Perfecting the Old Fashioned & Manhattan – Craft Cocktail Class

For such “simple” drinks consisting of only a few ingredients, there is definitely a craft and a skill to making a good, (and I mean really good…) Old Fashioned or a Manhattan cocktail.   Will start with the most basic recipes and talk through different schools of thought on the Old Fashioned… to muddle or not to muddle… sugar cube vs. simple syrup… bourbon vs rye… and a whole wonderful world of different bitters options to choose from.

We’ll also try at least two versions of a Manhattan cocktail and explore options for sweet vermouth.  At the end of this class, you’ll be ready to impress friends and family with delicious cocktails at your Holiday parties this year!

CLASS IS FULL.  Cost is $55 per person.  (21+)

Our series of cocktail classes will explore the history, art, and science of crafting delicious cocktails.  Gain a deeper appreciation of how to balance flavors with a wide variety of spirits and liqueurs.  Learn how to make different simple syrups featuring botanical ingredients and how a few drops of  bitters can really enhance the depth of flavor in your drinks. With each of our classes, you’ll gain the knowledge to better appreciate and hopefully recreate craft cocktails at home.   Will test out different products, learn about glassware, and showcase the barware and tools available for purchase in the Mixology Market to help you outfit your home bar.    We’ll share ideas on entertaining with ease by batching craft cocktails and garnishing tips and tricks to make your parties sparkle!

No experience required!  Come out and shake things up and have a great time!

Craft Cockatil Class FAQ:

Where do the classes take place?  Our Craft Cocktail Classes take place at Barrel 118 in the Backstage Lounge.  We are located just off the square in downtown Eatonton at 118 N. Jefferson Avenue.  We’ll have most groups seated at the high-top barrel tables with metal bar stools.

What’s included for the price?  Each class will have a similar style/format, but will feature instruction and samples for 2 – 4 different cocktails.  The recipes and instruction will feature seasonal ingredients, helpful tips on barware/techniques plus fun facts about the history of classic cocktails.  Some classes may feature more cocktails, but smaller tastes.   We’ll also include a recipe card/sheet with the featured cocktails for you to take home.  Depending on the class, additional cocktails may be available for purchase after class.

Can I bring food?   Sure!  Feel free to bring some snacks, just please be kind and pickup/dispose of any trash after you’re finished.   Feel free to visit one of the local restaurants before or after the class!

Is there parking? YES! There is a large, free parking lot behind the venue.  There is also plenty of street parking around the venue.  Please enter through the back of the venue up the wooden ramp for cocktail classes!

What happens if I can’t make it and need to cancel? What? Something came up and you can’t make the class? Bummer. You’ll be missed! You can transfer your tickets to another person (21+) or we can issue you a partial refund. However, we kindly ask for at least 48 hours’ notice so we can try to fill your spot, as last-minute cancellations may not be eligible for a refund.
